At Bloomfield Art, we offer specialised fine art and painting restoration services. Our oil painting cleaning process removes yellowing varnish, grime, nicotine stains, and mould growth. We begin by testing a small area to ensure the painting can be cleaned without damage. Each layer of dirt and varnish is meticulously removed, revealing the original beauty of the artwork, which is then protected with a fresh varnish layer.
For structural damage, including rips and tears, we provide solutions such as BEVA adhesive relining, wax relining, and resin and canvas patching. Our approach follows the principles of minimal intervention and reversibility. Retouching and paint consolidation are carried out only where necessary, with careful matching of colours and brushstrokes to preserve the integrity of the original artwork.
We also offer antique frame restoration, including cleaning, repairing damage with composite mouldings, and re-gilding with 23.5 Ct gold. Our frame services enhance the value and appearance of your artwork. Additionally, we provide canvas stretching services for artworks that need re-stretching for framing or display. Our expertise ensures your canvases are correctly stretched and ready for presentation.
